FlexPod

FlexPod is a reference architecture for server, storage and networking components that are pretested and validated to work together as an infrastructure stack.

FlexPod is a reference architecture for server, storage and networking components that are pre-tested and validated to work together as an integrated infrastructure stack. The stack consists of products from multiple vendors and is sold by storage vendor NetApp Inc. or its value-added resellers (VARs) and systems integrators.

A FlexPod infrastructure stack consists of NetApp FAS storage, Cisco Systems Inc. Unified Computing System (UCS), and either VMware Inc. or Microsoft Corp. hypervisor technology.

Unlike the Virtual Computing Environment (VCE) Alliance’s competing Vblock system, which is shipped as a pre-configured product, once the FlexPod is sold, it must be constructed based on FlexPod design guidelines.
