Double-Take backs up VMware Double-Take Software announced that its replication software will now replicate data from VMware virtual servers off site and provide failover capabilities. Double-Take also announced that MWABank has implemented its product to protect data from VMware servers. Finally, Double-Take announced that it has joined the VMware Technology Alliance partner program .
Honda picks Nexsan Nexsan Technologies announced that its SATABeast has been selected by the Honda Racing F1 Team to store data from factory applications supporting the company's Formula One racing efforts. The F1 racing team at the Operations Centre in Brackley, England is using the 2 terabyte (TB) SATABeast for data that includes computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing designs, telemetric information, wind tunnel analysis, racing simulations, environmental data management, image and video libraries, and office management applications, such as Word, Excel and e-mail.
IBM releases FC tape library for SMBs IBM announced a 4 Gbps Fibre Channel (FC) tape library designed for small and midsized businesses (SMB). The IBM System Storage TS3100 Tape Library Express features up to 8.8 TB capacity, nearly three times that of its predecessor, the IBM 3581 Tape Library. The TS3100 is offered in both standalone and rack mountable configurations and is backward compatible with first and second generation LTO tape cartridges. The library will be available on May 12, 2006 at a price of $12,975.
In addition, for its enterprise customers, IBM is also announcing its first upgrade to its TotalStorage 3590 Tape Drive Models. The new drives will be available on May 5, 2006 and start at less than $10,000.
Sonasoft announces backup Sonasoft Corp. announced the availability of a new version of its SonaSafe high-availability and failover system for Exchange Server. The release includes mailbox backups, enhanced replication and recovery capability. Previously, Sonasoft provided a standby server for failover of Exchange systems. Sonasoft joins e-mail management services competitor Azaleos in offering its high-availability customers storage services. (See also, E-mail storage outsourcing gets mixed reaction, March 20).
LightSand, Load System announce SAN connectivity SAN connectivity maker LightSand Communications Inc. announced that it has signed a reselling agreement with Load System AB, a storage integrator and IBM Partner, in the Nordics region.
